PHOTO EXHIBITION BY NIJ GRADUATING STUDENTS

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism on Wednesday exhibited some photographys taken by the photojournalism graduate at the school auditorium in Lagos.

The exhibition however featured some entertainment beat correspondence from various media organisations such as PM News, Thisday, Premiere newspapers respectively.

The provost of the institute Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Ikem congratulated the students for their splendid performance, noting that, the profession (photojournalim) will make them outstanding in the industry.

Subsequently, she urged the student to always carve a niche for themselves by reporting accurate information to the public, that according to her, would sustain lasting memories because photographs tells stories effectively.

“photographs caption should be void of ambiguity, inaccuracy and misinterpretation in terms of names etc” she affirms.

Dr. Elizabeth however advised the students to always stand out in their picture quality and be a good ambassador of the school.

In a relative sublime, among the photojournalists includes; Murewa Isaiah, Adewale Ojeleye, Babatunde Alabi, Ibrahim Olawale Amood, Ayodele Efunla, Azeezat Folake Odebiyi.

According to one of the graduant, Mr. Ayodele Efunla, “the course has been an eye opener to me, it has expose me to the rudiments of photography and journalism which I belief every professional requires.”

“within the period of this course, I have experience some changes in my performance in the office and in some organisation that I belong” Efunla said.

 
Moreso, Babatunde Alabi said “ with all sincerity and honesty, I cannot claim that I am now a good photojournalist but I can say with all confidence that I now know that photojournalism goes beyond taking pictures but rather picture that tells stories and communicate significant messages”

Nevertheless, the photojournalism lecturer of the institute, Mr. Boye Ola said this set of graduate are the best the school has trained so far based on the quality pictures exhibited.

 Also he commented their effort during the period of training and advised them to maintain their stand in the industry taking into cognisance the code of ethics guiding the profession.
